Staycation Bible School — Welcome to Our Daily Bread Café

Are you looking for a fun way to engage children this summer? The Presbyterian Outlook has you covered with Staycation Bible School!
This year’s Staycation Bible School will help families imagine that they are visiting a favorite restaurant or café as they explore together five food stories of the Bible. Using stories from the Old and New Testaments, they will see the ways that God provides food for the world and how God uses us to help feed a hungry world.

Kelly Kaufman, a Presbyterian pastor and Christian educator, developed this year's material to be adaptable. This curriculum recognizes that congregations and church camps are making difficult decisions about what is safe in this pandemic season — so it is designed with flexibility in mind, and can be used by families at home, in small groups, or with virtual connections.

You will receive:
  • Introduction for families: Introduce parents and families to the lessons, activities, and materials needed. Remember: Everything is flexible!
  • Introduction for church leaders: This will help pastors, Christian educators and youth leaders communicate with families and help them plan how to make Staycation Bible School work for them.
  • Five days of lessons: Each day has a different focus and is loaded with lessons, coloring sheets, activities and ways to connect with others.
  • Fun sidesThere's a playlist, activity placemats, service opportunities — and what would VBS be without ENERGIZERS?!
Connect and share God's love
Each day has:
  • Bible exploration time (the Main Meal)
  • Music (the Plate-it-up Playlist)
  • Café Creations (arts and crafts)
  • Kitchen Fixins (books and snacks)
  • All-you-can-play Games Buffet
  • Service with a Smile (mission opportunities)
Our Daily Bread Café will engage children in learning food stories of the Bible each day through engaging all five senses.
