Stepping Out: Writing Our Lives in the Time of a Pandemicwith Pamela Uschuk In the past two years, our lives have been greatly impacted by a virus. For months, the world came to a stand-still. Fear rose like a dragon on fire, shaking us to our cores. Nearly one million American have lost their lives from this, and tens of thousands more have lasting side effects. Schools and businesses closed for months. As COVID raises it head once more in the form of virus variants, how is the continuing pandemic affecting your life? Taught by Pamela Uschuk, this four day online intensive will focus on memoir in its various aspects. Participants will write four memoir exercises. We will discuss basic memoir writing techniques, taking examples from memoirs by Carolyn Forché, Joy Harjo, Nick Flynn, Luis Alberto Urrea, Alice Anderson, Pam Houston, Fenton Johnson, Barry Lopez, Cheryl Strayed, and others. Each day, Pamela will provide writing prompts and written feedback on writing done in the intensive. Tuesday-Friday, February 15-18, 2pm-4pm MST
