Explore the Bible's impact on creative imagination. From Shakespeare to the Inklings is a unique conference held in Montreat and hosted by the Presbyterian Heritage Center. Gather with us as we explore the many ways that the Bible influenced Western Civilization - from artists to musicians to authors - beginning in the 15th century all the way to today.
Expert Speakers and Engaging Presentations. Come learn from world renowned scholars who will reveal the Bible’s impact on illuminated manuscripts, Renaissance icons, Pilgrim’s Progress, and C.S. Lewis. Speakers include Hannibal Hamlin, professor at The Ohio State University, Crystal Downing, co-director of the Wade Center, Michael Morgan, noted musician and collector of rare Psalters, plus many others!
A special exhibit will be on display during the conference featuring illuminated manuscripts, the Saint John’s Bible – the first illuminated art Bible in 500 years, and an early Shakespeare Folio of his plays, published in the early 1600s.
