Are you looking to engage your congregation in conversation amidst calls for social reform in an ever-polarized political landscape? Gain the courage and skills needed to address these conversations in new ways during Fraught & Flummoxed taking place October 10–13, 2022, at Montreat Conference Center.
Examine the challenges of leadership - Through Cohort Tracks, participants will engage in conversation and self-reflection centered on the situations that have them fraught and flummoxed. Specifically, issues arising from the socio-political dynamics demanding radical change in the church. We will then take that knowledge and learn how to use it to cultivate communities of creative support, encouragement, accountability, and solidarity.
Explore new creative outlets - Because we cannot solely “think” our way through these issues, there will also be time set aside to awaken our bodies, spirits, and emotional/creative lives to the movement toward anti-racism. During Practice Labs, participants will physically engage their bodies in activities like baking, hiking, and liturgical arts.
Return home with renewed vision - Each opportunity throughout the conference is meant to model creative processes that create the dissonance necessary for deepening anti-racist analysis. By the end of the conference, participants will have gained knowledge and support so that they can begin (or continue) to navigate conversations on anti-racism work in their own congregations and communities.
