The African Methodist Episcopal Church has always been a church that speaks to the realities of the world. We are called to lead with wisdom, to preach with conviction, and to act with purpose. In light of the administration’s early actions and the policy agenda of Project 2025, we must come together as clergy to prepare for the critical role we will play in this moment. That’s why I’m inviting you to join the first in a series of Clergy Conversations: Prophetic Leadership in a Defining Moment on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 6:00 PM Eastern Time via Zoom (Registration Required: https://bit.ly/AMEClergyConversations). Our facilitator will be Reverend Dr. Teresa Fry Brown, Retired General Officer and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs; Bandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology This gathering will provide a space to: Frame the Issues Theologically – What does scripture and our AME tradition teach us about justice and resistance? Prepare for the Pulpit – How do we balance truth-telling with pastoral care? Strengthen Our Leadership – How do we guide our churches through education, advocacy, and organizing? Build a Clergy Network – How do we support one another as we navigate the challenges ahead?
This is not about partisan politics—it is about our moral responsibility to lead, to preach, and to protect the vulnerable. Register Here: https://bit.ly/AMEClergyConversations Find attached information about actions taken by the administration since Monday, January 20, 2025, a flier I'd like you to share with your relationship circles, and a writing "towards a theological statement. I encourage you to be part of this vital conversation. Our people need us. The nation needs a moral voice. God is calling us to stand.
