Montreat Conference Center - Looking to get outside this summer?

Exploring the Montreat Wilderness - Looking to spend some time outdoors this summer? Montreat is here to help! Find important news and updates about our wilderness recreation offerings below.
The Montreat Family Campground - The Montreat Family Campground is nestled among hardwoods, laurels, and rhododendrons alongside Flat Creek. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit, and grill. Electrical or water hookups are not available at most sites; however, water spigots are close to each campsite and two bathhouses provide campers with hot water, showers, toilets, and electrical outlets. We are now accepting reservations for our 2025 season!

Update Regarding Trailhead Parking - Montreat Conference Center will soon begin suggesting a $5 contribution for use of parking spaces at the trailheads around Lookout and Graybeard Trails. Donations will support the Wilderness Maintenance Fund which offsets costs for staffing, tools, supplies, and other administrative expenses needed for the upkeep of the trail system. For more information about the trail system, or to review rules and regulations, download a free map, or make a donation directly to the wilderness fund, visit our website.

Special Guided Hikes - This summer, Montreat Conference Center is bringing in outside experts for two guided hikes as part of our summer public hiking schedule. On Thursday, June 12, zoology professor Bill Sanderson will join the wilderness rangers in guiding a special birding hike through the Montreat Wilderness. Later, on Thursday, July 10, Executive Director of the Presbyterian Heritage Center, Anne Chesky, will lead a hike focusing on the history of Montreat. Each of these hikes will begin at the Montreat Nature Center at 9:00 am. Learn more about these or other hikes offered this summer using the link below.
