Announcing the Women of African Methodism Anthology!

Proceeds will be directed to the stewardship of the AME Publications Commission. This project is spearheaded by TCR columnist Dora Muhammad (Rights & Rituals). To learn more about her work, visit www.gracefull.co.

The Women of African Methodism anthology series is an intergenerational documentary to harness the power of the voices of women upholding the legacy of our traditions and ushering a refreshing of our faith. The project will be a special literary offering to edify its readers, affirm the lives of young women, honor the wisdom of our elders, and inspire the future of our girls.

Women and girls of all ages who are the life and leadership of African Methodism in their presence and service should be encouraged to contribute. Share a story, testimony, reflection, or life lessons in prose, poetry or prayer in one of the three topics – the work of liberation (justice, equity, truth-telling), sacred relationships (family, sisterhood, humanity) or spiritual transformation (hope, grace, peace, joy).

Collection for each district will span five to six months. Each district has a dedicated online portal for submissions that will open and close on a schedule. A new schedule was set on December 1 for collections to run throughout 2026. A resource document contains this schedule, along with links to each submission portal, a list of Girl Scouts badges that involve writing, sample announcements and graphics, registration for monthly write-in sessions, the TCR article on the project’s inspiration, and a sample submission form.

5 Ways to Support the Series

  1. Pulpit announcements. Share often within congregations, conferences and Connectional events and meetings.
  2. Printed materials. Full-page and quarter-page ads are available for special event programs and souvenir journals.
  3. Digital communications. Send specialized eblasts or include in regular e-newsletters.
  4. Social media. Amplify in news feeds, groups, and blogs. Talk about it during podcasts.
  5. Meeting agendas. Discuss in regular meetings. Invite Sister Dora for a special Q&A.
