Fall Writing Festival and Fall Festival of the Arts Week 2 Saturday-Friday October 9th - 15th, 2021

Fall is the time of harvest and at Ghost Ranch our guests also take the time to draw upon what has fed their soul during the spring and summer. In Week 2 of our Fall Writing and Festival of the Arts workshops, our guests will express themselves through poetry, essaying, glass work, and photography. Take a chance to express yourself and consider joining us in a new learning experience. Please note for this week only dorm style lodging (private room, shared bathroom in exterior hallway) and camping are available.

The Five Stages of Poetry. There are many things that prompt a poem: What are they? Where are they? How do we become attentive to them, then begin to think about them and turn them from observations into art? Beauty in Brevity: Art of the Short Essay with Colleen Anderson LEARN MORE   There is beauty in brevity. A well-crafted short essay is intimate, heartfelt, and moving. It combines the narrative flow of fiction, the concise quality of lyric poetry, and the emotional power of song. Creating the short essay can employ the research skills of a journalist, the critical eye of an editor, and the performance techniques of a storyteller.

In the autumn season, nature rewards us with a sensuous palette of colors. Ghost Ranch is about slowing down and connecting with the sacredness of the landscape.
