NEW Workshop: The Bible and Film

This workshop will explore the different ways in which Christianity, the Bible, and film can be placed into mutually enriching conversation. |

How can biblical texts provide new lenses for our viewing of films? In what ways can films enrich our understanding and interpretation of Scripture? Participants will engage a variety of topics and films in the process, including actual depictions of biblical stories, Christ figures in film, monsters, the Bible and American identity in film, religious satire, and themes related to the book of Job. Individuals will suggest numerous points of contact between the films being studied, Scripture, and the ministry contexts in which they may serve. |

In this interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to and begin to utilize various teaching and learning styles to aid in teaching and learning across differences. The workshop will specifically utilize Multiple Intelligence Theory and Kolb Theory. Participants will engage in various practices and exercises to become familiar with teaching strategies and tools targeted for each learning style and intelligence, and restructure a lesson plan using those strategies and tools. Participants can also expect to to engage in some movement and practice of play at one’s own pace. |

This three-part workshop is designed to help churches plan for the future by better understanding how and why each of these generations give. Learn how to communicate about giving and generosity more effectively and spur creative thinking around available giving tools. |
