Proyecto Faro and Stony Point Center co-hosting

Proyecto Faro and Stony Point Center want to thank you all who came last week to the multi-faith meeting in support of immigrants. Below are some immediate next steps you can take to help our neighbors and communities.

What you can do immediately:

  1. Download and use Signal, a secure text messaging systemto safely communicate with each other and others engaged in immigrant support efforts.
  2. For those nearby: Share with your networks and immigrant friends, neighbors, and workers that Bronx Defenders (800-597-7980) and Make the Road NY’s Westchester office (914-948-8466) will provide legal representation for those who have been detained.
  3. Help propagate Know Your Rights information: Review, download, and print out these resources to educate yourself and share with at-risk neighbors and members of your congregations. Included on this page are Know Your Rights wallet cards & flyers, resources for understanding different kinds of warrants that immigrants may be given by ICE, a Preparedness Toolkit, and a Step by Step Family Preparedness Plan. Proyecto Faro has been giving Know Your Rights trainings to schools and community groups, and we can work with you to coordinate one for your faith community. Additionally, we are looking for individuals and congregations to print out Know Your Rights materials so we can widely distribute these materials to immigrant communities and allies. If you would be able to donate printed materials, please reach out to Proyecto Faro.
  4. Continue to educate yourself and your congregation. Here is a very helpful training on how congregational ministry to immigrants is changing, hosted by the Clergy Emergency League, and a related article. If you find other resources, please send them to us.
