The webinar takes place on 29 September, from 14:00 to 15:30 CET, providing theological reflection during the Season of Creation when churches globally consider humanity's relationship with the natural world. "This ecumenical year offers many opportunities to reflect on what unites us as Christians of different traditions, denominations, and cultures," said Bishop Rosemarie Wenner, moderator of the webinar. "I know of many Methodists who are rediscovering the Nicene Creed, using ecumenical platforms to discuss its relevance for faith-based action in anticipation of God's new creation. As we enter into the Ecumenical Decade for Climate Justice Action, we intensify efforts to share spiritual resources and build networks for theological discernment, prophetic witness, and life-giving action." Four speakers bring diverse theological perspectives: Rev. Prof. Dr Te Aroha Rountree, president of the Methodist Church in New Zealand, opens with Maori insights on creation theology. Prof. Dr Daniel A. Bruno from Universidad del Centro Educativo Latinoamericano, Argentina, follows with a Wesleyan perspective on creation and new creation. Prof. Dr Jerusha Matsen Neal from Duke Divinity School addresses worship and preaching during the climate crisis. Dr Mercy Ah Siu-Maliko brings Pacific theological wisdom to understanding God as creator. "A values-based Pacific public theology is rooted in people's search for ways to enhance the common good from within their own cultural treasures and their rich and vast pool of Indigenous knowledge, in order to authentically embrace the treasures of Creation and a Creator God," said Dr Mercy Ah Siu-Maliko, WCC Faith and Order commissioner.
