WCC news: WCC releases GETI 2025 reader—a theological collection meant to inspire

One of the key resources of the 2025 edition of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Global Ecumenical Theological Institute (GETI) is now available for download.
3 September 2025

Titled “Where Now for Visible Unity?” this theological collection is timed to inspire GETI 2025 as it convenes alongside the Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order in October.

Rev. Fr. Dr Lawrence Iwuamadi, academic dean of the WCC Ecumenical Institute at Bossey and coeditor of the publication, said: “It is exciting to witness the launch of the GETI reader. It is a curated collection of interdisciplinary texts designed to spark meaningful discussion and deepen engagement. We hope participants will find it a go-to resource for exploring key themes and preparing for a dynamic learning experience with their peers.”

The publication roots readers in the ecumenical legacy of the WCC's Faith and Order work, commemorating the 1,700-year anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, while charting a path through interwoven theological trajectories.

GETI 2025 includes four weeks of immersive e-learning (15 September–12 October) followed by two weeks of residential study at Egypt’s Logos Papal Centre near the historic St Bishoy Monastery.

Participants – emerging theologians and educators ages 21-35 from across WCC’s eight regions – will engage deeply with the reader, enriching theological imagination and ecumenical praxis.
