This week, conservative commentators and social media users responded angrily to remarks made by U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, about the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson led the charge in his show last night, referring to Cruz as a “supposedly conservative” senator, and saying he had been “repeating the talking points that [Attorney General] Merrick Garland has written for [him].”
